River and Archeological site in Bangladesh (DV-19)
Day 1: Arrival and Overnight River Cruise
- Upon arrival, you will be greeted and transferred to explore the vibrant food of Dhaka, experiencing the local culture and cuisine. In the evening, embark on an overnight boat journey to Barishal.
- Overnight Stay: Overnight River Cruise to Barishal
Day 2: Experience Backwater Canal Cruise, Country and UNESCO World Heritage Side
- This day early morning at 6:00 AM, you will be picked up from your boat by the guide and will be travel to “Banari Para” for a one-hour drive. Embarking on a country motorboat you will reach a local bazar, name – Banaripara/ Harta/ Athghar Baokathi (depending on day of the week) where you will be watching “Non-Touristic Floating Vegetable Market”. On this floating market, you will be watching many traditional handheld materials with local village farmers are selling their fresh grown vegetables to the city vegetable vendors.
- After this floating market, you will be again doing the canal cruise among narrow canals and watching the panoramic views of a real rural Bangladesh. On the way, you will stop at the timber market by the bank of the river and may experience a homely restaurant for Lunch.
- you will travel from Barishal to Bagherhut. The Mosque City of Bagherhutis a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most significant archeological sites of the country. There are numbers of mosques among which, you will explore the famous 60 Dome Mosque of 15th century and the shrine of Khan Jahan Ali. The mosques are made of hand-made bricks with terracotta artworks, representing the rich heritage of pasts. Exploring the UNESCO Heritage, you will drive towards, Khulna for an overnight stay.
- Overnight: Mongla
Day 3: Exploring Wild Life and Community Living
- You will embark on a journey to Mongla, where you will board a local boat to reach a community living on the fringes of the Sundarban forest. As you cruise along the river, keep your eyes peeled for the playful river dolphins popping up for air and the small-clawed otters.
- Upon arrival at your local cottage accommodation, you will take a short walk to experience the harmonious living of the community with nature. We will arrange a honey collection procedure to demonstrate how the honey is collected, giving you an opportunity to witness the traditional way of harvesting honey in the forest.
- In the evening, you will ride a hand-driven boat to explore the nearby forest and hope to catch a glimpse of the Rhesus macaque and the water monitor lizard. You will spend the night at a community cottage, which offers basic accommodations without air conditioning.
- Overnight: Community Cottage (Location will be on the age of forest separating by a cannel)
Day 4: Local Boat Ride and Otter Fishing Experience
- After having breakfast, you will, step into the rhythm of local life with a leisurely walk. Experience firsthand how this community has woven a tapestry of life in harmonious coexistence with nature, offering profound insights into sustainable living practices. Afterwards, you will be ride a boat (local boat) to have a short walk to Karamjal which is the first forest station of Sundarban, the biggest mangrove forest. Karamjal is now being used for artificial breading center for fresh water crocodiles and endangered turtles. On return journey, we will stop in a river bank to take a chance to watch river dolphin dumping on and off for breathing.
- We will take you on a unique experience to a remote village in Norail district. This village is located on the other side of the mighty river Ganges, which is also known as Padma in this region. As you cross the river, you will witness the stunning views of the vast water body and the surrounding landscapes.
- Once you reach the village, you will get to experience a traditional fishing technique that has been practiced by a few families for over a thousand years. This technique involves fishing with otters, which are trained to catch fish in the river. It’s a fascinating sight to see the otters work in harmony with the fishermen to catch fish. As you spend time in the village, you will also get a glimpse of the local way of life and the culture of the region. You can interact with the locals and learn about their traditions, customs, and beliefs. The village is surrounded by lush greenery and serene natural beauty, which provides a refreshing change from the busy city life.
Overnight: Norail
Day 5: Experience Remote Village and shrine of Lalon Shah
- After breakfast, you will be driven to a remote village in on the way to Kushtia. The village is now called YouTube village. In the village there are many YouTuber who has transformed their village from the income from youtube and they make video on their daily village like. Click here to see their video.
- This is a unique experience and cultural diversity that you may experience here in Kushtia. The preparation started in the noon and ends in the evening where the villagers come over to enjoy free meals. Note, the cooking activity usually do not happen on Friday and Saturday.
- In the late evening, you will visit shrine of Lalon Shah who was also a prominent Bengali spiritual leader, philosopher, mystic poet and social reformer of early 17th century. The day will be filled with the experience of Bengali Literature.
- Overnight Stay: Kushtia
Day 6: Drive to Rajshahi and Explore Heritage of Phutia
- After breakfast, you will drive to Rajshahi. On the way, you will have the chance to take photos of beautiful Bangladeshi villages, lash rice fields and observe the calmness of the country side. Reaching in noon, you will explore the Puthia Rajbari and Temple Complex. The establishments are of 18th century representing rich heritage of late Mughal and English colonial era with it is an example of Indo-Saracenic Revival architecture. You will also explore number of Hindu crafted temples scattered around the Puthia area.
- From Puthia, you will visit Bogra district on you way you will explore Natore Raj Bari.
- Overnight Stay: Bogra
Day 7: Archeological Expedition Day
- After breakfast you will be driven to Mahasthangarh is the earliest urban archaeological sites so far discovered in Bangladesh. Though it seems a plain ground but it is 100+ feet above the sea level (current capital Dhaka is only 20 feet above) where the first civilized establishment started on the region back in 4th century BC. The full area was discovered by digging and some work still going on. The area was discovered in early 18th century and the excavation was started in 1930s. When you walk with the thick handmade brick walls of the citadel, you will feel the nostalgic step-back to time.
- After lunch you will drive to Dhaka.
- Overnight: Dhaka
Day 8: Dhaka and City Tour
- After breakfast, you will explore the heritage, culture and history of Dhaka city on the very last day of the tour. Starting in the morning, you will be taken to all the top tourist attractions of Dhaka, covering Parliament house, Dhaka University area, Dhakweswari Temple, Lalbug Fort.
- If you love food, you may experience Dhakaya Beriyany in the lunch and also will keep exploring the long list of Street Food along the way. After lunch, the guide will route you through tiny allays of old Dhaka to explore Star Mosque, Armenian Church and Pink Palace. In the evening, you will visit shadarghar area to check of the rush culture around river port of Bangladesh. In the late evening, you will get back to Dhaka.

Day 9: Explore Old Capital of Bengal Panam City and Sonargaon before Airport Drop
- Our representative will meetup at the hotel and will start your tour for the day. You will be driven to Sonagaon (a 1.5 hr drive) to explore the first capital area of Bengal. You will meet the rich and true heritage of Bengal by stepping into renovated buildings like Sardarbari along with surrounded folk museum, touch terracotta decorations and wood carving collections in the architecture of old community building of rich merchandise businessman, Goaldi mosque is the oldest single dome mosque built 16 AD.
